About Job Profile

Executive Trainees will undergo a one-year comprehensive training program in either the Pressurized Heavy Water Reactor (PHWR) stream or the Light Water Reactor (LWR) stream, depending on their chosen discipline and organizational requirements. Upon successful completion of training, ETs will be appointed as Scientific Officers/C in Group A and contribute to various aspects of nuclear power plant design, construction, operation, and maintenance.

Salary Package

During the one-year training period, Executive Trainees will receive a monthly stipend of Rs. 55,000/-, a one-time book allowance of Rs. 18,000/-, and mandatory lodging & boarding facilities provided by NPCIL.


Upon successful completion of training and appointment as Scientific Officer/C, the pay scale will be at Level 10 of the Pay Matrix (Rs. 56,100/-) with a Dearness Allowance of 50% of the basic pay. Additional allowances, incentives, and benefits include:

Educational Qualification

BE/B.Tech/B.Sc (Engineering)/5-year Integrated M.Tech with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks in one of the following disciplines:

  1. Online Registration: Visit the NPCIL careers website (www.npcilcareers.co.in) and click on "Apply Online" or "Apply for Online Registration" to register your details, including your GATE registration number, name, date of birth, category, email address, mobile number, and other relevant information. You will receive an activation link via email upon successful registration.

  2. Account Activation: Click on the activation link received in your email to activate your account.

  3. Online Application: Log in using your login ID and password to access the online application form. Fill in all required details regarding your educational qualifications, work experience, personal information, preferred interview city, reactor stream preference (for relevant disciplines), and upload your scanned photograph and signature.

  4. Application Submission: Review the draft of your application and submit it once you ensure all information is accurate. An application number will be generated.

  5. Payment of Application Fee (if applicable): Male candidates belonging to General/EWS/OBC categories need to pay a non-refundable application fee of Rs. 500/- online using the provided payment gateway. SC/ST/PwBD/Ex-servicemen/Female applicants/NPCIL employees are exempted from the fee.

Selection Process

Phase Details
Shortlisting Candidates will be shortlisted for the personal interview based on their GATE 2022, GATE 2023, and GATE 2024 scores in the respective disciplines, applying a ratio of 1:12.
Personal Interview Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a personal interview, which will be the basis for final selection (subject to medical fitness). No weightage will be given to GATE scores at this stage.
Waitlist A waitlist will be prepared with an equal number of candidates as the main select list for each discipline and category. The waitlist will remain valid until September 20, 2024.

Exam Pattern

There is no separate written exam for this recruitment. The selection is based on GATE scores and performance in the personal interview.
